Technological innovations in the field of Secure ID and verification solutions for the private sector are the focus of the trade fair presentation by Germany’s Bundesdruckerei GmbH at this year’s Cartes in Paris.
The possibilities for using ID and access cards are growing rapidly. That’s the reason why research efforts are being increasingly centred around protecting cards like these. Bundesdruckerei and its partners have now developed a technology with which secure online applications can be activated or blocked using either a keypad on the card itself or by moving the card in a certain way. The company is also presenting a newly developed security feature with a colour 3D changeable image (Motion). These new technologies are the result of the SECUDIS (SECUre Digital Identity Solutions – Innovative systems for future high-security applications) project supported by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Education and Research. Bundesdruckerei conducted this project together with NXP Semiconductors, Bayer MaterialScience and the IAP, IZM and EMFT Fraunhofer institutes.
Authenticity check to combat ID fraud
Another new feature at Cartes is Bundesdruckerei’s solution for the private sector. Visocore Verify is the company’s all-in-one solution for checking the authenticity of ID documents. This document verification method is an interesting option for all areas where there is a risk of false or forged ID being presented, such as telecommunication providers, electronics markets, car dealers, banks, attorneys, notaries or casinos.
A compact personalisation solution
Small, flexible and powerful – these are the success parameters of state-of-the-art technologies and what Bundesdruckerei had in mind when developing desktop personalisation machines. Up to now, devices like these were only available in large-scale format. But for countries with decentralised personalisation where machines are needed for small-volume jobs, these devices made little or no economic sense. The ME 3000 Card device, on the other hand, personalises ID cards in credit-card format (ID1) and is not only the ideal solution for government authorities, but also for companies wishing to issue high-quality employee ID cards. The device is scalable and works with an extremely fast laser so that around 100 cards an hour can be personalised.
Bundesdruckerei’s ME 3000 Passport personalisation machine is set to make its debut at Cartes. While offering the functionalities of a bigger machine, this machine is, above all, compact and can be used to personalise passports in the global ID3 standard format, the same format as the German passport. This compact device is also the ideal solution for countries with decentralised personalisation and smaller quantities. Up to around 100 passports an hour can be personalised.
