In this issue of the VAULT magazine, we complete our exploration on the topic of Post-Quantum Cryptography using our phenomenally successful recent PQC webinar as a foundation.
Inside, Robert Bach from Infineon, in his article ‘Protecting Electronic Identity Documents in the Age of Quantum Computing’ summarizes the key facts of Post-Quantum Cryptography and describes the status of the work on quantum computers and standardization activities. The main part of the article focusses on the consequences for ID documents and ID projects.
Evidens’ Klaus Schmeh expounds on the main post- quantum algorithms, especially CRYSTALS-Kyber and CRYSTALS-Dilithium, and evaluates their suitability for smart-card implementations in his article, ‘Implementing Post-Quantum Algorithms on Smart Card Chips’. Reading the article will make it clear that the current chip architectures will have to be adapted to new methods sooner rather than later.
Our Focus Article this month is by Mühlbauer ID Services Head of Information Systems – Lutz Richter. His article, titled, ‘How will Post-Quantum Cryptography affect Contactless travel in Entry-Exit Solutions’, will look at the impact post quantum cryptography has on entry/exit systems and the topic of seamless travel.
This 40th VAULT issue also celebrates 35 years of Wibu-Systems.
