The End of an Era: Reflecting on 25 Years of the VAULT and Silicon Trust Partner Program
This is the final issue of VAULT magazine, marking 25 years of innovation, connection, and evolution. Alongside it, the Silicon Trust Partner Program also comes to a close, signalling the end of an initiative that played a crucial role in shaping the secure hardware industry.
Why Now?
The Silicon Trust Partner Program was created in an era when small and mid-sized companies struggled to compete with larger corporations in marketing and networking. It provided credibility, resources, and a platform for collaboration. Over time, the landscape shifted. Today, even small companies can leverage social media, analytics, and online tools to achieve market visibility. This democratization of resources has made the program’s original purpose less relevant in today’s industry.
From its inception, the program and VAULT magazine chronicled the evolution of cutting-edge technologies. We started with the dawn of biometrics and explored innovations like secure controllers, PKI, contactless technology, IoT, blockchain, and post-quantum cryptography. Over the years, the industry transformed from secure documents and ePassports to biometric payment cards and beyond.
None of this would have been possible without the people who shaped the program. We owe immense gratitude to contributors from organizations like Infineon, Wibu-Systems, Mühlbauer and numerous others who brought their expertise and vision. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team at Krowne Communications ensured the program’s success, steering editorial, partner management, and event facilitation.
