Written by Following a complex tendering procedure with strict qualification requirements AUSTRIACARD successfully managed to requalify as a supplier of choice for VVM De Lijn, one of Belgium’s largest public transport operators. AUSTRIACARD has been producing and personalizing DeLijn’s multifunctional MOBIB-card since mid-2016.
The MOBIB-card is a sophisticated smart card product providing users not only easy access to public transport operators, but also to several extended mobility-related services, such as car- or bike sharing. The new generation of this dual-interface card offers significant enhancements in terms of sustainability and performance:
- Τhe cardbody of the new public transport card is made of long-life PVC/PET composite which was specially designed for public transport applications and received top results from a renowned German test lab (FORGA).
- Particularly reliable inductive coupling technology is used, providing the new MOBIB-card a higher robustness and rapid transaction times. This technology has become a proven standard in millions of EMV-cards and has finally been adapted for secure transport applications,
- A full-color personalization is applied which supplements the total look and feel of the new card, also including the cardholder’s photograph.
