The company’s partner, Intercede has developed the new MyID® CardChecker™ App, compatible with Precise Biometrics’ Tactivo™ smart card and fingerprint reader for the iPhone and iPad. With the MyID CardChecker app and the data encoded in the device, organizations can check and authenticate a smart card from the smartphone or tablet without the need for an Internet connection. This provides an innovative solution ensuring security across an increasingly mobile workforce.
The Tactivo™smart card and fingerprint reader enables secure authentication, anytime, anywhere, through the launch and general availability of the new MyID CardChecker app for Apple iOS. The app, developed by the company’s partner Intercede, allows government agencies and enterprises to read and display electronic information from personal identity verification (PIV), PIV-I, commercial identity verification (CIV) or transportation worker identification credential (TWIC) smart cards on an iPhone or iPad. Leveraging mobile technology, Intercede, in partnership with Precise Biometrics and enabled by the Tactivo reader and Precise iOS Toolkit, has enabled the affordable solution for corporations and government agencies to verify the identity of their employees, contractors and visitors anytime and anywhere.
Precise Biometrics’ partnership with Intercede, a recognized leader in the security software space at the enterprise and government levels, brings additional opportunities for continued expansion and growth in these key markets, starting with the launch of the new MyID CardChecker App.
The new MyID CardChecker app is available in the Apple App Store and allows iPhone and iPad devices equipped with Precise Biometrics’ innovative Tactivo smart card reader to read and display smart cards, including personal identification number (PIN) protected content. With the MyID CardChecker app and the data encoded in the device, organizations can check and authenticate a smart card from the smartphone or tablet without the need for an Internet connection.
In addition to smart card recognition, the MyID CardChecker app also leverages Precise Biometrics’ proven expertise in biometric authentication by matching the fingerprint of the cardholder with what is stored on the card electronically. This final level of authentication further heightens security by ensuring that the fingerprint of the person present matches that encoded on the smart card.
“Leveraging Intercede’s long-standing leadership, our joint offering ensures that government agencies and enterprise across the globe can leverage mobile devices to enable secure identity verification anytime, anywhere,” said Thomas Marschall, president and chief executive officer of Precise Biometrics.
“By partnering with Precise Biometrics, and leveraging today’s most cutting-edge mobile security technologies, we’ve brought to market the industry’s first solution that addresses the growing need to improve the identity verification process and suit the needs of an increasingly mobile workforce,” said Richard Parris, CEO of Intercede. “We are confident that the MyID CardChecker app represents the first of many continued innovations in the mobile security industry and we look forward to working closely with Precise Biometrics in the future.”
