Cognitec’s Face Recognition Technology Enables Verification in Veridos eGates at Bangladesh Airports

Bangladesh is now operating the country’s first eGates at the capital’s airport, featuring Veridos gates with Cognitec’s face recognition technology.

The airport currently uses 12 eGates at the departure terminal and three eGates at the arrival terminal. Veridos will install 28 eGates at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and 22 eGates at other international border check points.

The eGates include Cognitec’s FaceVACS-Entry VS product, which combines smart hardware for image acquisition with highly accurate face recognition software for verification processes. The technology allows travelers to complete self-service border control procedures in a few seconds.

The system captures best-quality images and verifies them against biometric photos stored in passports and other ID documents. A proprietary sensor detects presentation attacks.

The successful partnership of two trusted German technology providers guarantees the delivery of cutting-edge border management solutions to our clients. The modernization of ID and border control systems in many Asian countries also plays into the current demand for seamless, quick processes to reduce waiting times in airports, with or without pandemic conditions.

Dr. Jürgen Pampus, VP of Sales, Cognitec

The installation of automated border control gates is connected to a Veridos contract for the implementation of Bangladesh’s next-generation electronic passport infrastructure, with Cognitec as the face recognition supplier.
