croatia_akd_idWith the Republic of Croatia joining the  EU,  the New Croatian eID card bill was passed in the process of harmonization with relevant and applicable international guidelines and standards. The  Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Ministry of Interior commenced the first phase of the implementation of New Croatian eID card project for Croatian citizens.

In this first phase of the project, AKD started with the production of a re-designed Croatian ID card of a third generation that meets all international standards such as ICAO 9303 part 3, volume 1:2008 and ISO/IEC 7810:2003 and it is produced pursuant the New ID Card Bill.

In comparison to the previous version of the ID card that was also ID1 format, new Croatian ID card contains PIDN (personal ID number), and an area for a contact chip that is to be integrated in the next version, higher level of anti-counterfeiting features – more than fourteen different security elements that meet the highest level of printing security standards classified in 3 categories.
